It was an impressive April and first third of the year for the certified pre-owned vehicle market in Canada, based on sales figures provided to AuSM Canada by the automaker programs.
Starting with Subaru, the company says it is on track for another record CPO year.
Subaru sold 359 certified vehicles in April, a 76.8% increase year-over-year. Through four months, sales have reached 1,212, a 64.7% gain
Nissan posted 1,378 CPO sales for April, nearly double the 691 certified sales from a year ago. Year-to-date sales have reached 4,770, up from 2,605 in the first four months of 2018.
Infiniti’s 166 certified sales in April were up from 94 a year ago. So far this year, it has sold 603 CPO vehicles, compared to 346 in the same period of 2018.
Toyota sold 3,386 CPO vehicles for the month, compared to 3,191 in April 2018. Year-to-date sales are at 11,421, up from 10,823 a year ago.
Lexus had 481 certified sales for the month, up from 461 a year ago. Through April, sales have reached 1,658, compared to 1,495 in the year-ago period.
Hyundai reported 1,032 certified sales for the month. In emailed comments, Charles Plewes — who is manager of CPO and remarketing national sales for Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. — said of the month: “April was a fantastic month for H-Promise CPO sales for Hyundai Canada. At 1,032 sales, H-Promise realized a 24% increase over March and a 28% increase over the same time last year.
“In addition, this is the first time in over five years that H-Promise sales have topped the 1,000-unit mark,” Plewes said. “Hyundai dealers are recognising the outstanding value inherent in the H-Promise program.”
Over at Porsche, there were 240 CPO sales in April, compared to 205 a year ago. That put year-to-date sales at 813, up from 733 in the year-ago period.
Honda had 1,822 certified sales in April, up from 1,162 a year ago. Through four months, CPO sales are at 6,085, compared to 4,175 through April 2018.
At Acura, sales climbed from 197 in April 2018 to 461 last month. Year-to-date sales for Acura have reached 1,602, compared to 879 in the year-ago period.
Mercedes-Benz had 1,281 certified sales in April, up from 1,269 a year ago. Through four months, CPO sales have reached 4,341 units, compared to 4,282 in the year-ago period.
Mercedes had 81.7% CPO penetration for the month, up 2.6% year-over-year.
